Romeo and Juliet

“Romeo and Juliet” is an overture-fantasy by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy of the same name. The work is dedicated to M. Balakirev. The Romeo and Juliet overture was written by Tchaikovsky on the advice of M. A. Balakirev. The first version of the overture was written in the autumn of 1869.
